A Security Trick For Everyone Traveling With A Digital Camera

April 12th, 2009

Losing your digital camera during a vacation is one of the worst things that can happen. Souvenirs and clothing can be replaced, but the photos of a family or couple on vacation together can often not be. Before leaving for vacation, here are two things you can do that may end up getting your camera returned to you should you lose it. On a small piece of paper write “return to” and then your contact information and then place it in the battery compartment of the camera, it should fit snugly in most models. Also, use the first picture on your camera or data card to take a photograph of a piece of paper with your contact information on it and a message asking for it to please be returned. This way, when someone finds your camera and looks at the photos on it they can see who it belongs to and how to return it to them on the first frame.

Don’t Forget That You Can Ship Things To And From Your Destination Too

April 12th, 2009

Traveling with a great deal of luggage can be burdensome. Maneuvering through airports, in and out of taxis, and into and out of hotel lobbies can be a stressful and sometimes overwhelming experience. There are a number of situations though where the traveler might be able to make use of a shipping company. Sometimes the charges for shipping are the same or not that much more than paying any overweight or extra bag fees to the airline itself too. When traveling with young kids, it is possible to ship a box of toys to your destination before you go so that it’ll be there at the same time you get there. Many people have gone so far as to box up and ship a stroller to their destination because the shipping charge was cheaper than renting a stroller once they get there. Some people have also bagged up their dirty laundry, put it in a box and shipped it home, saving their luggage space for souvenirs and other purchases they’ve made. Likewise, those purchases made while traveling can also be boxed up and shipped home. Basically, anything not used during the actual traveling process can be shipped either to the destination or back home ahead of time, and often it isn’t as expensive as you think.

This isn’t only for enjoyment reasons, but can impact safety as well because often the primary driver can become fatigued or even stressed out after hours and hours of driving. Sometimes they may not say it, but the primary driver might also like to take a break and just look out the window as the scenery goes by too.
