It is the rare family vacation where every member of the family wants to do everything that everyone else in the family wants to do. Sooner or later older siblings separate to do their own thing or one parent takes one child one way while the other takes the other one in a different direction. The odds are that some of the items that you will need during your vacation cost more at the destination than they do at your local store, this is especially true when buying items at the airport or in the hotel gift shop. There are a number of items you can purchase ahead of time before you leave that could save you money including pain relievers, sunscreen, sunglasses, lotion, and other toiletries. If you have the room available in your luggage, purchasing snack food items like fruit snacks or a box of crackers ahead of time can also save some money.
Different locations have different drinking ages. If you are coming from an area where the minimum drinking age is twenty-one and you go to Mexico or someplace similar where the drinking age is eighteen, be prepared that any children you have that are at or above that age will have access to alcohol. On the other hand, if you are going to a location where you will be out and about most of the time and not arriving back to your hotel until late in the evening, there is little reason to pay the higher prices that accompany some of the nicer hotels. Once you decide what it is you’ll be needing during the times you are in your hotel, it becomes much easier to decide what hotel to make reservations with.
