Take Advantage Of Restaurants Offering Free Kids Meals

April 12th, 2009

It is not uncommon these days to find a number of restaurants advertising that “kids eat free” when accompanied by an adult. The small price of a children’s meal doesn’t seem like a big deal at the time, but over the course of a week long or longer vacation it can add up. Finding locations that offer free kids meals is a great way to save a little money while traveling, and every little bit adds up.

Stay In Communication With Everyone In Your Family

April 12th, 2009

It is the rare family vacation where every member of the family wants to do everything that everyone else in the family wants to do. Sooner or later older siblings separate to do their own thing or one parent takes one child one way while the other takes the other one in a different direction. There is nothing wrong with this and it is often a good way for everyone to have their specific wants and needs satisfied. The problem though is that once a family separates it can be inconvenient, and sometimes unsafe, if they cannot be in contact with each other. It is a good idea to split cellphones up in a way that all groups have a way of communicating. If a family doesn’t own enough cellphones to do this there is also the option of purchasing a prepaid cellphone or two before leaving for the vacation, or also affordable two-way radios are on the market now that have a communication range of up to three to four miles. Having the ability to communicate with everyone in a family or travel group can make it so there is less time spent waiting for everyone to regroup, less time waiting searching for someone who may have gotten separated, and can avoid a family member from finding themselves in a dangerous situation because they can’t communicate with the rest of their group.

Save Money By Purchasing Some Items Before You Leave

April 12th, 2009

The odds are that some of the items that you will need during your vacation cost more at the destination than they do at your local store, this is especially true when buying items at the airport or in the hotel gift shop. There are a number of items you can purchase ahead of time before you leave that could save you money including pain relievers, sunscreen, sunglasses, lotion, and other toiletries. If you have the room available in your luggage, purchasing snack food items like fruit snacks or a box of crackers ahead of time can also save some money.

Be Aware Of The Drinking Age

April 12th, 2009

Different locations have different drinking ages. If you are coming from an area where the minimum drinking age is twenty-one and you go to Mexico or someplace similar where the drinking age is eighteen, be prepared that any children you have that are at or above that age will have access to alcohol. This is true for a number of countries in various places around the world.

Going To Disneyland? Rent Some Movies First

April 12th, 2009

Disneyland and Disney World are two of the most popular vacation destinations in the United States. Most of the rides and areas of the park are decorated and employed by people in a certain theme, usually pertaining to a particular Disney movie. One great way to help kids get the most out of a trip to Disneyland is by introducing them to some of the older Disney movies that will be referenced by some rides in the park. When this is done before they leave for the trip they not only can gain some appreciation for the movies that their parents may have grown up with, but they can also more easily recognize characters and scenarios at the park.

Before Booking Your Hotel, What Will You Be Doing There

April 12th, 2009

Just spend twenty minutes searching online and you can see some of the fabulous hotels that are available to reserve for a vacation. In-room hot tubs, multiple restaurants, incredible swimming pools, massage service, multi-room suites, and more… there are hotels that offer this and so much more. There are also more economical hotels that don’t offer nearly the same amenities Before reserving your rooms, take a minute and decide what it is you’ll be doing at the hotel. If you are going to a destination where you will be spending a great deal of time back at your room, it may mean more to you to have some of those nicer entertainment options there in the building with you. On the other hand, if you are going to a location where you will be out and about most of the time and not arriving back to your hotel until late in the evening, there is little reason to pay the higher prices that accompany some of the nicer hotels. Once you decide what it is you’ll be needing during the times you are in your hotel, it becomes much easier to decide what hotel to make reservations with.

Surprise Your Kids With Little Presents While Traveling

April 12th, 2009

Kids can have a hard time during the traveling process, all of that waiting in line is sometimes stressful and boring for adults, and most children have far less patience than adults do. A great way to break up the monotony for kids is to purchase a few surprise items ahead of time. These can be nicer items like a new video game for their portable video game player or even a new movie for their portable DVD player, or they can also be smaller items like a word search book, action figure, or even just a favorite treat. The main point is that it is a surprise to them and when presenting it to them they will have something completely new to focus on instead of another long wait at an airport or in a long car ride.

Before You Buy Insurance For Your Rental Car, Contact Your Insurance Agent

April 12th, 2009

Renting a car is a great way to make your vacation more enjoyable as it gives you a certain amount of freedom to come and go as you please. Every time you rent a car you will be offered rental insurance and many times it may be a good idea to purchase it. However, there are a number of policies that you may already have purchased through your insurance agent at home that may completely or partially cover you while driving a rental car. The best idea is to check with your insurance agent before you rent a car or go on vacation to see what you are already covered for so you don’t duplicate coverage and waste money by purchasing an unneeded policy.
